Ways to Give

Vital Signs

One of the many ways we continue to improve PCH is through the Vital Signs Annual Equipment Campaign which provides funds for the purchase of priority medical equipment for this hospital.  The Vital Signs Campaign is the unbrella initiative under which all other fundraising efforts fall.  The goal of this campaign encompasses all pieces of equipment needed in a given year.  Equipment needs vary each year; however each item holds an important role in patient care.  A large part of this campaign is mail-out appeal that is sent to over 10,000 Islanders.

vital signs logo2009 ~ A priority list of medical equipment has been identified and approved by the Medical Advisory Board totaling over $753,800.  Because our hospital requires this new equipment to continue providing quality care to Islanders, we need your help.  This year we have launched a campaign focused on the equipment needs of the Ambulatory Care unit here at PCH.

Over the past few years, it has become apparent that the need for services in ambulatory care is ever increasing.  Trends for “day procedures” have increased to the point where much of the equipment purchased over the past 3 years has been dedicated to this unit.  Endoscopic procedures alone have risen by 13% since 2005/06.  Over $530,000 worth of equipment for ambulatory care has been purchased since 2006 and needs in this department are at a record high of $241,300 this year. This department was the first of its kind on PEI and it is of the utmost importance that it continues to be the standard bearer for ambulatory service in the province.
