13th Annual Lights for Life

On Wednesday evening December 5th, our community is invited to join us for the 13th Annual Lights for Life event at Prince County Hospital. As always, we will come together to remember special loved ones and celebrate the coming holiday season. All funds raised from Lights for Life are used to help purchase the medical equipment needed at PCH this year. Donors can dedicate a light or beautiful display, in honour or in memory of someone special and help to buy needed medical equipment at the same time.

This year’s Lights for Life Campaign is about to get underway! Check your mail box on November 1st for information on this year’s celebration. Various displays are available for dedication this year in including several great new pieces! This is a fundraiser in which everyone can participate, as we have dedication lights starting at $10. The white, red, blue, and green lights are available for dedication, as are various larger displays too!

Returning to our lighting display this year is the Grand Arch, the Snowflakes, the Toy Train, and the Caroling Bells, among others. As always, the centerpiece of the display will be the “Celebration Tree”. The Celebration tree will once again be brought to you by our presenting sponsors, Scotiabank who have returned for another year. Without the support of the Scotiabank, and other sponsors, this event would not be possible. It is because of their help that we can ensure all proceeds go towards the purchase of priority medical equipment for Prince County Hospital. Watch for new displays this year, made possible by Philips Medical Systems Canada, including items such as the Snowy Trails Trio, Rudolph & Dasher, and several others.

The honorary “Lights for Life” Chairperson for 2007 is Vicki MacLean. Vicki is the Nurse Manager in the Emergency Department at Prince County Hospital and thus, truly understands and appreciates the value of the support given by donors through this initiative.

“Lights for Life is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the team spirit of PCH and the community which generously supports our ability to provide quality care to those we serve,” says Honorary Chair MacLean.

Since its inception in 1995, when it raised $30,000 for the PCH, “Lights for Life” has blossomed into the Island’s largest Christmas fundraiser. Cumulatively, this event has raised over $1 million to support new medical equipment for the Prince County Hospital. This event remains a tremendous help to the hospital - last year it raised over $157,000 for medical equipment.
